Introduction

Annie Cabral entered the Australian Academy of Design in 2009 but has been sewing stories from fabric since 2004. Thinking she should fight creative compulsion for what she perceived as practicality, Annie delved into European History and relegated all else as a hobby. After dabbling briefly in History at the University of Melbourne, she finally caved in and traded History books for French curves.

To date she has debuted her graduate collection as well participated in the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival for two years running, worked for More Than Opera, judged for the World Cosplay Summit, and judged local costuming events. She has also directed several fashion shows for both local and international institutions, and spoken at numerous costuming and makeup panels.
